La Habra Christian Church makes a significant financial donation each year to support this ministry.
What Ambassadors for Christ doesThe Ambassadors for Christ was founded on the Island of Mindanao in the Philippines in 1970 by Charles and Florence Littell as a means to evangelize through planting churches.
In time, the Service Training Program was developed as the best method for establishing new churches on the island. Rodger and Dixie Shewmaker have been leading the development of the new urban churches since 1997.
Eight times a year, Ambassadors for Christ trainers lead In Service Training Seminars. Students come from all over Mindanao Island for an intensive study of the Bible and church leadership principles as they prepare to start and lead churches in their hometowns. Following the seminars, students return home and share their new knowledge with others in their towns and churches.
The In Service Training Program consists of 30 separate seminars of 70 hours each. In Service Trainees have started more than 400 churches on Mindanao!
In June 2006, Rodger and Dixie returned to the Philippines after a nine-month furlough in the U.S. A group of 15 college students from Crossroads College, MN, have spent a week with Ambassadors for Christ, painting a house in Palm Haven and painting the interior of a local church.
